Hello,

This is Morgan Lesko, my phone number is _-_-_, and my email address is _@_. Living most of my life in Maryland, I appreciate your tireless efforts during these unprecedented times.

This summer, I sent a formal information request via certified mail and got confirmation that the Office of the Governor received it on May 22, 2020. I still have not received any responses from your office, but the Maryland Public Information Act requires a response to my request within 30 days.

I had requested a list of all the studies which informed the Governor’s public health policies in response to the Sars-CoV-2 virus and declared pandemic. This information is being sought for educational purposes, not commercial.

Most specifically, I am requesting a list of public health studies that informed the policies ordering “all non-essential businesses and other establishments” to close, and “requiring all persons to stay at home” outside of essential needs (Order Number 20-03-30-01). There were no health studies cited in the Governor’s Order nor its press release. Scientific citations and sources should be transparently published on or throughout coronavirus.maryland.gov. Are they elsewhere? Such documentation would help clear up misinformation about the science.

Is there any kind of tracking or identification number for my formal request?

If you deny any or all of this request, please cite each specific exemption you feel justifies the refusal to release the information and notify me of the appeal procedures available to me under the law.

It would restore some of my faith if I do not need to bring this to the Maryland Public Information Act Compliance Board and the state’s Attorney General.

Dec 6 Update: Direct Outreach to Mr. Mincher

For the record, I’ve also just emailed Mr. Mincher, the Public Information Act Representative for the Office of the Governor. I’m sincerely hoping for a legitimate response from anyone this coming week, as overdue by law.

Dec 7 Update: Email Response from Mr. Mincher

I received a reply to my email saying he had no record of receiving my request, but is starting processing my request today. Getting closer… Thank you, Mr. Mincher! <3
