All actions we take are strategies to meet needs. And we all share the same basic human needs. Which means that we can have empathy for all actions, even those that really annoy us, our “pet peeves”. As long as we focus on the needs rather than the strategies, then we can slow down our fight-flight-freeze reaction and stay in an empathetic, honest connection.
